Hey there! I'm Yashaswi, but I would like to be called Yashwi. Born and raised in Bangalore, I now find myself in the UK, daydreaming about the perfect South Indian breakfast to kickstart my mornings.

I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and followed it up with a Master's in Counseling Psychology. My career as a therapist has been quite an experience. Every client and every session has taught me something new, making me a better therapist and a more empathetic person.

I'm a fun-loving person who thrives on new experiences and has a passion for dancing (I've been a choreographer as well!). I'm driven by dedication and hard work, always ready to embrace change and adapt to new adventures. I live for those 'aha' moments and moments of reflection. I believe in continuous growth and transformation, always on the lookout for ways to evolve and improve.

I specialise in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma (verbal, physical, emotional, sexual), relationship issues, body image concerns, gender and identity, ADHD, PTSD, self-harm, and eating disorders.

Get To Know Me Better!

It was in 9th standard that I decided I want to pursue psychology and become a counselling psychologist. Although my reasons weren’t fully clear at the time, I felt a strong sense of direction and belief in this decision. As I continued on this journey, it became increasingly meaningful to me. Looking at the pain, trauma, emotional deprivation, and suffering in the world has inspired me to become a mental health practitioner. My strong sense of empathy and compassion towards people further fueled my desire to support them on their healing journeys.

First step is the hardest but the process is worthwhile. Lets give it a shot? But know that you aren’t alone!

The first session with me is all about creating a warm, non-judgmental, and empathetic space where you can feel comfortable and understood. We’ll start with me getting to know you – your background, your thoughts on therapy, and what motivated you to reach out. It’s a chance for you to share your story and for us to build a connection.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions or express any concerns about therapy, its process, or my approach. We might share a few light-hearted moments along the way, keeping things comfortable and relaxed. By the end of our session, you’ll leave with a useful resource or insight to help you on your journey.

Therapy with me will feel like a process or journey together. It’s a journey shaped by your goals, at a pace that’s comfortable for you, using tools and techniques that relate and resonate with you. It will be built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.

This will be a collaborative process where I bring my expertise, tailored to your unique needs, while you actively engage and apply what we discuss outside of our sessions to create meaningful change. You can expect a mix of validation, resource-building, sharing information, processing heavy experiences, and more.

I believe that true healing comes from within and I’m here to provide guidance and direction that could enable that. I understand that therapy can be overwhelming but I’m here to make it as comfortable and smooth as possible.

What truly excites me about being a psychologist is how human mind and body functions in order to protect, survive and exist. The ‘how’ behind it all is what ignites my curiosity like nothing else. From the body’s subtle reactions to the most profound emotional responses, from the formation of belief systems to uncovering deep-rooted patterns, every discovery makes me curious and drives me to learn more, helping me explore a new dimension of understanding.

Moreover, what also excites me is witnessing the transformative power of vulnerability in my clients. Observing how they evolve and flourish when they embrace vulnerability is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart as a psychologist is my dedication to learn and evolve along with my clients. With a blend of metaphors, humour, and adaptability, I try to create a space that feels both safe and dynamic, where growth can flourish.

I believe in the importance of striking a balance between validating my clients’ emotions and experiences while also challenging their interpretations when needed.

In addition, I’m committed to incorporating creative techniques tailored to each individual, ensuring that therapy feels personalised and relevant to their unique needs and preferences.

I also believe in sharing of information, resources and references that relates with the presenting problem of the client. I have found it useful in addressing questions of why.

Furthermore, my training in Trauma-Informed, Queer-affirmative, Kink-affirmative, and polyamorous relationships allows me to offer a safe and inclusive environment.

The best compliment I’ve received is that I draw connections and patterns in such a unique way that it leaves the client astounded by the end of the process. The client mentioned that they love my therapeutic style and nature, which combines comfort and assurance with encouragement to step out of their comfort zones and embrace change.

One thing I wish everyone knew about therapy is that, while it can seem heavy and overwhelming at times, it ultimately helps you discover and build the strongest resource within yourself. Accessing that inner strength is the most liberating and  empowering experience.

My therapeutic approach is versatile and personalised. My foundation is based on building a safe environment and keeping in mind the goal and pace that clients are most comfortable in.

I draw from various methods like Trauma-Informed Therapy, CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, Body work, inner child work and more, adapting them to fit your specific needs and goals.
