VALID Feelings v/s INVALID Behaviours!

 A therapist’s reminder –

All your FEELINGS are valid, but all your BEHAVIOURS might not be!

Every feeling you experience is valid. However, how you act on them might not always be valid. Let’s break it down:

😡It’s okay to feel ANGER. It signals that something is wrong/unjust. However, shutting down, breaking things or yelling isn’t productive and can harm relationships. Instead, channel your anger into constructive conversations or physical activities like exercise to release pent-up energy.

😥Feeling SAD is a normal response to loss or disappointment. But withdrawing from everyone or neglecting your health isn’t the right way to cope. Instead, reach out to someone you trust, or engage in activities that bring you joy.

😔 We all feel SHAME when we think we’ve let someone down. But punishing yourself is harmful. Instead, try to talk to a friend or therapist who can help you see things from a different perspective.

🙏 Feeling GUILT shows you care about the impact of your actions. However, constantly pleasing others doesn’t resolve the issue. Instead, try to practice self-forgiveness.

😨 FEAR is a protective emotion meant to keep us safe. But avoiding tasks, or lashing out isn’t helpful. Instead, acknowledge your fear and take small steps to confront it; seek support if needed.

😤 We all feel FRUSTRATION when we face obstacles, but snapping at others or quitting tasks isn’t okay. Instead, take a break and return to the task with a clearer mind.

😒 JEALOUSLY can help you learn what you value or desire. But constantly comparing your life to others’ can damage trust and self-confidence. Instead, reflect on the cause and communicate openly.

The key is to recognize and validate your emotions, but also to find healthy ways to express and manage them.

Remember, it’s okay to seek help if you’re struggling with your emotions or behaviours. Talking to a mental health professional can provide you with strategies and support to navigate these complex experiences.
